Can someone explain the difference?
Anyways most people will recommend FXCM but i hear that your orders are filled against other FXCM members instead of the open market making it hard to trade when the market is going one way. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
So which is the best broker out there?

I know about the spread between bid and offer rates, but is there something else they do, eg. some accounting trickery or smart management of assets and liabilities, that makes their owners rich?

I know little about online trading or (investing in general), but I want to learn especially about Forex. All I know is "buy low and sell hi" concept which is self-explanatory and common sense in all trading.
However, do I HAVE to have a broker to trade online? After I learn about Forex trading, can't I just open an account, do the practice trading for months or even a year, and do the trading myself online? Is this a common practice, or do majority of investors hire a Forex broker to do the trading for them?

hello, I want to open an account with an online forex broker and I need to ask if anyone has traded or is trading with invest2forex.com. I also consider oanda, saxobank, alpari, gftforex and mgforex but I am somewhat concerned as i have been reading the past two days that there are a lot of scammers out there.Many customers have had slippage or other problems with even the most reliable and well known brokers. Any personal experience is highly valued.

I've a demo account on Alpari Uk & other in Interbank Fx. Both forex broker have good features :
Interbank FX : MT4 broker, no dealing desk, tight spreads, good customer service. Mini account for $250
Alpari Uk : MT4 broker, tight spreads (better than Interbank Fx), good customer service but has dealing desk for live trading (5 - 15 seconds to accept an order). Mini account for $200. Withdrawal is more expensive in Alpari than in Interbank.
I'm wondering if it's better to trade Alpari Uk than Interbank Forex because I live in France, thus I'm closer to Alpari Uk than Interbank Forex (in Utah) .
I've read some reviews and Alpari has better ranking than that of Interbank Forex.
What do you suggest me ? which one is better to trade Forex Market ?

To The Positronic Pimp : Why dealing desk isn't an important issue? since non dealing desk brokers means faster orders passed, with a dealing broker there will be slippage for istance or requoting.

I use VT Trader for charting, but I am not sure if it is reliable broker.

for example, if there are 1000 clients of one broker? 46% buy usd, 54% sell usd, will the broker do the transaction on each individule's clients action? or the broker just trade the difference of buy and sell generated by their clients? but they are going to charge the commission on all their clients anyway? with their money in hand , they can clear the transaction in 10 times the average trading time frame of their clients. i.e if their clients like to do trading in 5 min frame, they might clear the transaction in hour frame. and DO they really have that much money to lend? and are they monitored by any authority or commitiy? I try to proof that the more smaller clients the broker attract, the more they gonna make money on nothing. cause the statistical average of trading is close to 50%

Help, I am losing all my hard earned savings! My portfolio:
30% in cash. Interest rate is lower than inflation so cash steadily loses its value. Add dollar's slide abroad and you have over 10% loss p.a.
10% in Icelandic currency that yields 15%. Perhaps the interest rate is higher than inflation but in the last two weeks alone that currency lost 20% to US$! Experts are saying it will drop further.
15% in stocks. Invested in an index fund which is now down 10% in dollar terms (20% real terms). And I read that stocks are still over-valued.
5% in gold and oil through a forex broker. Volatility is so high that my deposit got wiped out twice even though commodities are going up long term. They are now very expensive, should I still hold them and hope to make up the loses?
40% in property. I purchased it a year ago in cash, no mortgage. It's value is dropping since then in $ terms and in real terms even more...
Seems there are no good investments there days. How come?
